Plant news for June & July
Plant out your vegetable patch - this is a perfect month to get your vegetable plot in order. You don't need masses of ground, you can even mix fruit and vegetables in with your ornamental borders, potager style. Many vegetables and salad crops will grow quite happily in containers, kept well watered, with good, healthy compost and regular feeding. And if trailing or climbing in habitat, will clamber up wigwams, arches and over garden fences. If you are in need of visual inspiration, visit the fabulous fruit and vegetable garden at RHS Rosemoor, in North Devon.
See our fruit and vegetable section for more information.
Pond life - spring is also a good time to check out the health of your garden pond or water feature. We stock a selection of moisture loving plants, good for boggy and damp soils, as well as marginals and oxygenators. Not got a water feature, then how about creating one? Or if that sounds too onerous, then a birth bath would be welcomed by your local wild life.
